Money has long been a tool for power, but in today’s global economy, it is increasingly wielded as a weapon. The threat of a trade war between the United States, Canada, Mexico, and China -- marked by tariffs, sanctions, and currency manipulation -- illustrates how nations leverage financial systems to exert control over one another.

These economic battles don’t just affect governments; they ripple down to everyday people, raising prices on essential goods, destabilizing job markets, and exacerbating financial insecurity. When money is weaponized at the highest levels, it reinforces the reality that financial systems are not neutral—they are shaped by those in power, often at the expense of those with the least control.

So, how can individuals push back against this financial weaponization? Here are a two suggestions:

  • Cultivate financial resiliency by investing in local and community-based economic systems. For example - buy local, bank local, and participate in mutual aid networks.
  • Increase your financial fluency beyond personal finance. This helps you grow your understanding of how interconnected money is with politics, justice, and wellbeing.

If you are looking for a place to start - may I remind you that the Reverend Money Collective is a free online gathering space for faith-inspired leaders to connect around economic justice in its many forms.

Today we are hosting our first quarterly summit - which consist of an array of short workshops and sessions designed to help you consider how you might amplify your voice for justice. I invite you to explore the workshop offerings below and join us!

Amplify Your Well-Being: Self-Care Through Creative Expression

Workshop Summary We often think of self-care as treating ourselves—watching a favorite show, scrolling social media, or indulging in something comforting.
